FIELD TESTING

You must have field testers test your gear, it is the only way to make product that is a great experience for the customer. Watching them set the tent up and get in it or handle and pack a backpack or even get into a sleeping bag is of the utmost importance. Even when you take product out yourself, you won’t find everything. I have a lot of empathy for the customer and my focus is customer satisfaction. I like to deliver a complete experience for the consumer, from opening the product to their experience in the outdoors, to cleaning and storing.

I have slept in every single sleeping bag and tent I ever designed. I have hiked in every pack I have designed. From climbing to the top of Rainier and the Grand Teton to family car camping at my favorite ocean spot, to mountain biking trips with friends and section hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, camping is a way of life for me.

Moss Heptawing and MSR Hubba Tent. When you need air flow and shade, a wing and a tent with the fly off is a great combination. Even when its raining you need air flow, a wing provides air circulation and the drip line and splash line is further away from tent.
